Manufactured by RIM (Research In Motion Ltd); Blackberry is one of the most popular handheld devices based on the wireless technology for communicational purposes. Blackberry was introduced first in 1999. It had different features in it like mobile phone, messaging, browsing, file sharing, e-mail, faxing etc. Blackberry is the product of RIM which is a Canadian company responsible for providing different wireless and data communicational services to the consumers. RIM, founded by Mike Lazaridis in 1984, is headquartered in Waterloo, Ontario. All the softwares for the devices of RIM are manufactured by RIM itself by using technologies like Java, C++ etc.
The first Blackberry device had a monochrome display but today it comes with bright color displays. The latest blackberry devices provide the features of a PDA, Mobile Phone and camera as well. Blackberry devices are usually used by business personals that use to travel a lot and need to send and receive e-mails wherever they could catch a wireless network. Modern Blackberry devices have usually an ARM 9 or 7 processor in it. Earlier versions of Blackberry had Intel 80386 processors. Today, these devices usually come with at least 64 MB built in memory and they also support extended memory cards like SD card etc. An interesting fact about the Blackberry is that recently, in April 2007, RIM announced that the number of the subscribers of Blackberry had passed 8 million.
