Your mobile may soon be able to discover illnesses

Mobile phones of today have come a long way over the last few years, now it seems that soon they will be able to be used for more than phone calls, texting, reading e-mails, taking photos and listening to music. Sky news has reported that they could in the future be used for detecting illnesses such as tumors. Scientists in the USA have developed a handheld scanning system that relies on the technology of mobile phones to give users the ability to scan themselves and detect illnesses during the early stages. Simply plug it into your mobile and view the results on screen. While this may be some time off yet, it does what could be possible in the future for mobile phones. For now we`ll take a look at a couple of the great and feature packed mobiles available on the market today. The Lg KU950 is certainly worth a mention if not for anything else but its remarkable swivel screen. The screen itself which is a good size at 320 x 240 pixels will swivel around to the horizontal position and the keyboard then sits directly beneath it. This is an unusual design on a mobile phone and one which has not been copied to my knowledge. The phone is lightweight being only 116g and this includes the battery. The phone takes a Micro SD memory card for added memory and you will need it as there is only 50MB shared memory onboard. The Nokia N95 cannot be missed out either as it is a superb all-round phone and Nokia have packed so much detail into the design. It has Sat-Nav, Wi-Fi, an MP3 player and it has a gorgeous 5 megapixel camera onboard. The Nokia N95 supports additional memory by way of the Micro SDHC memory card and again as with all mobile phones you will need it for storing the photos and videos this phone can produce. The Nokia boasts a wonderful large screen being 2 point 6 inch which can be used in the horizontal position. An unusual feature of this phone is the sliding function; it slides two ways, left and right. Pushed to the right the phone reveals controls for the multi-media player and to the right the delightful and responsive keyboard. The controls are completely flush with the phone and are wonderful to the touch. Combined with jaw dropping speed when it comes to the GPS system that is resident in the phone, this is one piece of technology that is definitely worth a second glance.
