The LG Viewty KU990 and how to use 8 GB with it Updated:Mon, 30 Jun 2008 13:19:46 The Viewty is a marvellous phone design from LG which is not only good to look at and use but also has many features. Of course to make the most of the many features such as the MP3 player and camera you have to add a micro SD memory card.
However the majority of mobile phones will only take an SD memory card up to a maximum amount and LG state that this is up to 2GB.
However the Viewty can in fact take a micro SDHC memory card up to a whopping 8GB.
However there are some issues if you do install an 8GB card in the Viewty but these are easy to get around and the card does work.
The first thing you have to realise with the 8GB memory card is that it will not show up in the phone as being an 8GB memory card, the maximum it will show up as is 1.8GB to 2GB.
If you want to store items on an 8GB memory card and use them with the LG Viewty ku990 then you have to do a little working around.
There is nothing hard about using the card with the phone and the process is a simple one to follow.
The easiest way to get information onto the card is to take it out of the phone to put it into the computer or laptop. The easiest way to do this is to buy your memory card and a USB adapter together from www.directsaleschat.co.uk.
The adapter is simple to use, take your card from the phone and then insert it into the USB adapter which you can then insert into the USB slot on your computer or laptop.
You will then be able to go to “My computer” on your desktop and the USB adapter will show up in there as a hard drive icon.
All you have to do then is to click on the virtual hard drive which is the SD card and this opens up allowing you to create folders where you are able to store various media such as pictures or music for viewing or listening on your phone.
Simply locate the music on your computer and drag and drop to the SD card folder of your choice and then take the USB adapter from the computer and slip the SDcard back into the slot on your LG Viewty phone.
You can then navigate to the SD card on the phone and access your music and pictures.
One word of warning though, if you need to format the 8GB Micro SDHC memory card then do not format it in the phone.
Take the card out of the phone and format it on the computer in the same way as you transfer your media to it.
Some laptops also have a slot in the side that will take an SD card direct and this will do away with you having to use a USB adapter as it does the same thing.
It will show up just the same in “my computer” and you can double click it and then drag and drop to the card.
