The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX30 is one of the most compact digital cameras available measuring 94.9 x 51.9 x 22mm and weighing only 132g (154g with battery and memory card). This camera has 7.2 effective megapixels, 3x optical,4x digital zoom and Extra Optical Zoom which means that the zoom ratio can be enlarged up to 5.3x (in 3MG), 14.3x when digital and optical are combined and 21.4x when combined with Extra Optical Zoom which uses the middle part of the CCD to magnify distant subjects.
The LEICA DC Vario-Elmarit wide angle lens is made up of 7 elements in 6 groups including 5 lenses with 6 aspherical surfaces and this produces high level results and is particularly helpful when taking landscape shots or a group of people. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX30 also has OIS (optical image stabiliser) which counteracts image blurring due to shaky hands by keeping the optical axis in the correct position against the CCD.
The Panasonic DMC-FX30 features the Venus Engine III, an image-processing engine that can act with ISO 1250, and noise and picture noise are vastly reduced. ISO equivalents are auto/100/200/400/800/1250, White Balance offers auto, shade, cloudy, daylight, halogen and white set/white balance adjustment. The Panasonic FX30 has a built in flash with auto, auto/red-eye reduction, forced on, slow sync/red-eye reduction and forced off.
Powered by a Li-ion battery pack with an anticipated life of 280 pictures, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX30 has an AC adaptor available as an optional accessory. Images can be viewed on the 2.5" TFT LCD display which has an approximate field of view of 100%.
